And Then The Liberator Was Set Free

“America isn’t just New York or Los Angeles or Chicago or Boston,”
said Pierre BergĂ©, YSL's life and business partner and the head of the designer’s foundation when asked why he chose Denver for the exclusive U.S. showing of the internationally acclaimed exhibition Yves Saint Laurent:The Retrospective at the Denver Art Museum from March 25 – July 8, 2012. The retrospective of 40 years of creativity features a stunning selection of 200 haute couture outfits along with numerous photographs, drawings, and films that illustrate the development of Saint Laurent’s style and the historical foundations of his work.
Not only did he outfit some of the worlds most stylish women, YSL was the first couturier to do true streetwear.

"I have known fear and the terrors of solitude. I have known those fair-weather friends we call tranquilizers and drugs. I have known the prison of depression and the confinement of hospital. But one day, I was able to come through all of that, dazzled yet sober." -YSL

"I understand that the most important encounter in life is the encounter with oneself."
