Runway Inspiration: Playing It Safe
The New York Times called the collection "Safe Stripes", in other words-- Nothing New. Zzzzz... But there is no denying that Michael Kors is a commercial genius and always spot on the trends. I admire him because he is 100% true to his American aesthetic. While working at Michael Kors I came to appreciate the fact that everything was always easy & efortless. Now that we are on the cusp of fall and already looking at Spring 2013 shows its easy to get lost in translation. I always love it because the best end of the season sales are now and I not only use spring shows to see what's next, but to get inspired for the Right Now. I believe in carrying pieces into seasons and mixing it all up. So as I came across a cute skirt on Gilt.com today, I immediately thought of the MK show from earlier and how I'd I'd style the skirt. So there you have it: Safe collections can inspire you to stay on trend without being too trendy.

Walk Light: Silk Blouses + Printed Silk Pants
I think Holly recovered one Louis bag of full of fabulous printed silk pants for Spring 2012 collection.

A few of my favorite Bloggers like Hahn from Life in Travel rocked the look fiercely this summer.

Touch Me, Tease Me
For her fall collection, Holly said her inspiration was Joan Collins going on holiday in 1960's. She saw this photo and thought: What would she have packed???

Attitude Gyal
I know we are clearly on the cusp of Summer 2011 and Resort 2012 collections are currently premiering. And though I should be discussing more relevant things like bikinis and color, I just could not resist. Besides I plan on moving to a cold place soon and might as well get used to idea of staying fly in the freezing cold. I actually just went through these looks on a real computer. Hey the Blackberry has its limits! And having seen Jay Manuel on the Nate Berkus Show recently, I was only reminded of his fabulousness. Despite the fact that the thought of wool coats and boots make me sweaty right now, I'm convinced he's so relevant. Who goes from make-up artist to designer anyway?? Before entering the fashion industry, Manuel was a pre-med student and also studied opera, once working for the Metropolitan Opera. The boy has TALENT and passion, proving that an artist is an artist despite his medium!
